Why We Were Attracted to Attend Covenant Presbyterian Church
We discovered Covenant during a time in our lives when we found ourselves dissatisfied with our church experience. While our last church had great preaching and an authentic worship team, it was huge and the lack of fellowship with other members left us feeling without purpose and with no sense of belonging. We had been longing to find the type of church family we saw in Acts, the type of church leaders we saw in the apostles, and the type of church mission given by Christ Himself: follow me, make disciples.
When
we moved to the Fort Meade area, we dreaded the “church
shopping” process we would have to go through. But God
knew our hearts, He knew what we wanted, He knew what He
wanted from us, and He knew where we should go. Lynn
put a request out to her friends on FaceBook: “New to
the Fort Meade area, looking for an awesome church.” A
series of connections from one friend to another
resulted in a message being delivered that seemed to be
written to our hearts. Our desires for a church home
that we had only shared with one another were the very
things this woman wrote to us about. The church was
full of sinners, not people pretending to have it all
put together. The church had a place for us to serve,
not an extensive payroll of hired out positions. The
church acted as one big family, not a large congregation
of strangers. The writer promised that the church was
likely, “different from any church” we would ever
experience.
